Purpose

The purpose of this project is to deepen students' understanding of figurative language by exploring its use and impact in music. Through analyzing song lyrics, students will develop critical thinking skills and communicate their insights to diverse audiences. The project fosters real-world connections by engaging with community partners and creating a digital platform for sharing their analyses, culminating in a live radio show event.

Products

Students will create a series of multimedia products that explore figurative language in music. These include video analyses of song lyrics, blog posts detailing their insights, and infographics that visually represent the impact of figurative language. The final product will be an interactive website that showcases all student work, providing a comprehensive resource for understanding how figurative language enhances musical expression.

Launch

Kick off the project with an interactive listening session where students bring in their favorite songs and identify examples of figurative language within the lyrics. Facilitate a class discussion on how these elements enhance the song's meaning and emotional impact. Use this session to introduce the essential question and spark curiosity about the role of figurative language in music.

Exhibition

Host a 'Radio Show Live' event where students broadcast their analyses of figurative language in music to the community. During the event, students will present their findings, engage with listeners, and answer questions, showcasing their understanding and communication skills. This live broadcast will be supported by a local radio station, providing a professional platform for students to share their insights and connect with a wider audience.
