Purpose
The purpose of this project is to immerse students in the historical evolution of teaching roles and educational philosophies through hands-on, experiential learning. By engaging in research, role-play, and interactive workshops, students will develop a nuanced understanding of how teachers' roles have transformed over time. This project aims to foster critical thinking, enhance public speaking skills, and encourage self-reflection, while connecting students with historical contexts and real-world perspectives from community partners.
Learning goals
Students will explore the evolution of teaching roles and educational philosophies across different historical periods, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how these changes reflect broader societal shifts. They will develop critical research skills by analyzing primary and secondary sources, and enhance their public speaking abilities through role-play presentations. By engaging in interactive workshops and the 'Role of Teachers Expo,' students will deepen their appreciation for diverse teaching methods and reflect on their personal learning journeys.

Products
Students will create and lead a series of interactive workshops, where they demonstrate and engage participants in teaching methods from various historical periods. These workshops will be crafted to allow peers and community members to experience firsthand the evolution of educational practices. Additionally, students will develop role-play presentations, assuming the personas of historical teachers, to articulate the philosophies and methods of their assigned eras. These products will be showcased at the 'Role of Teachers Expo,' where each student's booth will serve as an educational portal into a specific time in teaching history.
Launch
Begin with a dynamic 'Time Traveler's Workshop' where students collaborate to create a timeline mural of key educational milestones. This activity will highlight the evolution of teaching roles and methods, sparking curiosity and setting the stage for their research. Encourage students to use vibrant visuals and brief descriptions to capture the essence of each era, fostering an engaging and interactive learning environment from the outset.
Exhibition
The 'Role of Teachers Expo' will feature student-curated booths representing various historical periods, each showcasing interactive activities and role-play presentations. Students will embody teachers from their chosen eras, sharing teaching methods and philosophies with peers and community visitors. The expo will be an engaging, immersive experience, inviting attendees to explore the evolution of education through hands-on participation and dialogue.
