Sole Search: The Price of Proportion!
Purpose
Students will explore the dynamics of shoe pricing by analyzing the costs of materials and labor, and how these factors contribute to the final price. Through hands-on activities, they will investigate proportional and linear relationships to understand the mathematics behind pricing strategies. Learning goals

Products

Launch
Begin the project by visiting a local shoe store or inviting a guest speaker from the footwear industry to discuss the factors influencing shoe pricing. Students will observe and take notes on different shoe models, comparing the costs of materials, labor, and brand influence. Back in the classroom, they will brainstorm and list the components that contribute to the final price of shoes, setting the stage for exploring proportional and linear relationships in pricing.
Exhibition
At the end of the project, students will host a "Shoe Price Showcase" where they present their findings on the cost breakdown of shoe production, including materials and labor.
