Activities |
Students will begin by discussing the essential question: 'How can our actions today create a positive legacy for future students at our school?' They will then conduct a guided observation of the campus to identify potential issues. Using a checklist and timeline guide, students will document their initial observations, setting the stage for data collection and analysis. (30 minutes)
Students will learn techniques for collecting qualitative and quantitative data related to the issues identified. Working in small groups, they will gather data from surveys, interviews, and observations. The goal is to analyze this data to identify trends and patterns, which will inform their action plans. Resources include survey templates and data analysis tools. (45 minutes)
In this session, students will use their data analysis to brainstorm and draft a detailed action plan to address the identified issue. They will consider feasibility, resources needed, and potential impact. Students will pitch their initial ideas to peers and teachers for feedback, making necessary revisions to strengthen their plans. (60 minutes)
Students will execute their action plans, working collaboratively to implement solutions. This might involve creating posters, organizing events, or meeting with school officials. Students will document their process through photos or videos, capturing the steps taken and any challenges encountered along the way. (60 minutes)
Groups will prepare presentations or videos to showcase their projects and the impact on the school community. They will receive structured feedback from peers and teachers, focusing on clarity, organization, and effectiveness of their communication. This session aims to refine their presentations for the final exhibition. (45 minutes)
Students will present their projects to an audience of community members, school staff, fellow students, and parents. Each group will have 5-10 minutes to share their process and outcomes. Following the exhibition, students will participate in a reflection session, discussing the project experiences and receiving feedback on their work. (60 minutes)
