Pages of the Past

Grades 4/5

This RPLC unit will bring history to life for students as they explore historical periods of interest, seek to understand the perspectives of others, and eventually get to write their own historical fiction stories. Throughout this unit, the students will analyze the way authors use literary devices to write compelling stories and finally step into the role of author and write themselves. Additionally, the students will learn valuable research skills, including how to evaluate sources for reliability. These skills are essential as they gain increasing autonomy and independence in middle school.
