Nonfiction Kaleidoscope

In this RPLC unit, the students will discover the magic that lies within nonfiction. In this captivating journey into the realms of nonfiction, students will embark on an exploration of the diverse and dynamic landscape of factual writing. From expository to narrative, browsable, and active nonfiction, this unit invites students to discover the kaleidoscopic beauty of nonfiction writing. Just like turning a kaleidoscope reveals a dazzling array of colors and patterns, this unit will unveil the rich tapestry of nonfiction styles. Through engaging activities and immersive experiences, students will learn the characteristics of nonfiction and understand how an author's purpose impacts the style of nonfiction they write. At the end of this unit, the students themselves will become the authors, choosing a style of nonfiction to share information about their project content. This module best aligns with a project with a lot of content knowledge as the students will have ample opportunities to learn through their nonfiction texts. In the kaleidoscope of nonfiction, the possibilities for project content integration are as diverse and ever-changing as the patterns within a spinning wheel of colors.
