A Picture Tells a Thousand Words
Grades K/1
This RPLC unit is built on students beginning to see themselves as storytellers. It takes them on a journey, beginning from looking at pictures as stories, to learning about the many forms of storytelling throughout history and ending with students becoming storytellers themselves. For growth and development as a writer, it is important for the students to take on the identity of a storyteller and authors. This unit also supports students in gaining confidence in the skill of drawing. This is so important because once students can draw, they can get their stories on paper.
