Purpose

Grade 3 students will create a brochure that introduces Manav Sadhana through their perspectives, highlighting its spaces and activities. This project develops observation, writing, and visual storytelling skills while promoting collaboration and creativity. Through engagement with the community's values, students strengthen their sense of identity and belonging, contributing to a meaningful representation of Manav Sadhana for visitors and peers. The project also encourages students to reflect critically on their learning journey, fostering self-directed learning and problem-solving abilities.

Learning goals

Students will develop observation skills as they explore and document key spaces and activities at Manav Sadhana, emphasizing cultural understanding. They will refine their writing abilities by crafting concise, audience-friendly captions that effectively communicate their insights. Through visual storytelling, students will integrate art and text to convey meaningful narratives, fostering creativity and design awareness. Collaborative work will be central, with students working in groups to design and integrate their panels into a cohesive brochure, showcasing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The project will culminate in an exhibition where students present their work, demonstrating self-directed learning and an academic mindset.

Products

Students will collaboratively create individual panels for a brochure that visually and textually represent Manav Sadhana, featuring drawings, maps, captions, and personal reflections. By the end, students will produce a final brochure, large posters of their panels, and showcase their journey of making the brochure, including visits to Manav Sadhana and their initial drafts. The brochure will be displayed at COL booths as a "Child’s Guide to Manav Sadhana," complementing the storytelling and journey projects of older grades.

Launch

Begin the project with a 'Manav Sadhana Exploration Day,' where students participate in a guided tour of the campus with community partners, documenting spaces and activities for their brochure. After the tour, host a 'Brochure Inspiration Workshop' where students examine brochures from local attractions and brainstorm ideas for their panels. Encourage students to capture photos, sketches, and notes during the tour, and facilitate a group discussion to share their observations and thoughts on how these elements represent the community's values and culture.

Exhibition

Host a 'Brochure Gallery Walk' showcasing student-created brochures in a gallery format, with students acting as docents to share insights and answer questions. Include interactive stations for students to demonstrate the brochure-making process and discuss reflections on Manav Sadhana's community values. Conclude with a collective celebration where students present their learning journey and insights gained throughout the project.
